Acquisition of land for development of railways is a complex and time-consuming process involving multiple stakeholders. Mistakes in land acquisition, mostly avoidable, often result in time/cost overruns, imposing huge costs on the public exchequer. The Indian Railways has partnered the Land Centre at ASCI to develop and deliver customized training programmes to the officers dealing with land acquisition for railway projects. Providing a comprehensive understanding of procedural requirements of acquisition of private/forest lands; conceptual clarity on market value determination; technology support for LA planning and monitoring and avoiding mistakes in the entire project cycle from planning to implementation are the key takeaways from the Indian Railways-ASCI Partnership Course.
