- Pre-Land Acquisition Due Diligences and Resettlement Planning

Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R & R) is no longer a voluntary decision of the acquiring/requiring body but an entitlement mandated by law (RFCTLARR Act, 2013). Violation of the legal provisions and faulty implementation of R & R provisions risk judicial intervention, conflicts and project delays. Resettlement planning is a challenging task, quite often more challenging than even the giant physical or engineering project. Implementation of R & R requires understanding, responsiveness and sound planning. R and R should be ideally planned at the earliest stages of project preparation. For acquiring/requiring bodies involved in such projects, clarity is required on multiple fronts including interpretation of the legal provisions relating to resettlement by the Courts. The Course aims at addressing practical queries relating to due diligences prior to land acquisition and providing a comprehensive understanding of the planning requirements for R & R, as mandated by the RFCTLARR Act, 2013
